Got rid of an LG paperweight/dishwasher that I had for less than a week (see my review on the LG) and replaced it with the Bosch unit (SHU66C06C06 in black).

I am MUCH happier with the Bosch. Unlike the LG, this unit actually washes and dries the dishes well.

The “high heat” drying setting is the closest thing to an autoclave I have ever seen for household dishes. It sanitizes (sterilizes it seems) the contents and gets things squeeky clean and DRY. That feature can be turned off if felt it is a little too radical — after the LG fiasco (NO DRYING AT ALL), I couldn’t resist, I HAD to try it (plus, I got a chance to play with all the buttons ). I admit it, I’m an engineer and the more buttons/features the better in my book.

The LG was a LITTLE quieter (but just a little). After having the “top of the door/hidden” controls in the LG — a feature that looked interesting but ended up being less than practical/functional — I ended up opting for a Bosch with the front/visible controls. This occured with a little encouragement from my wife. I agree that the front controls are better and more functional. Plus, it becomes easier this way to tell when it’s done.

I just like everything about this unit. It seems a LITTLE smaller in terms of capacity than the LG, but we are finding that it takes a while to get it “full enough to run it”. It does have the “top rack wash only feature” which our last one (pre LG) didn’t. So we now have to train our thought process on filling along those lines.

The top rack is removable, which allows for insanely large and bulky items to be washed. The rack removes easily. The top rack is also adjustable (up and down) and is easy to adjust.

The silverware racks are detachable and can be placed anywhere (top or bottom) which many units now have, but in any case it is a nice touch.

Overalll, I recommend this unit highly.
