My Ice2o refrigerator arrived this week, and I will be returning it next week. Beyond all the hype, it is a deceptively marketed and inferior product. In it’s marketing of the product, Maytag neglects to disclose that the water from the in-door dispenser is NOT CHILLED like every other fridge with a water dispenser on the market for the last 2-3 decades. The owners manual was unclear about this, and after my 10th glass of warm water, I finally had to call Maytag to get the truth. People expect REFRIGERATED water from a refrigerator, not lukewarm filtered tap water. Even the person who sold it to me couldn’t believe it. It’s deceptive and absolutely rediculous for a fridge that costs well over two thousand dollars. Maytag also neglects to advertise the annoying high pitched hum which the owners manual and the phone service rep admit is part of the unit’s normal operation. It’s driving everyone in the house nuts. All of our Easter eggs were frozen solid, because too much cold air blasts the top shelf. My elevator shelf is not level. To top it off, I have to wait an entire week for an authorized repairman to come. While the french doors and bottom freezer are appealing, it’s not worth the money. Wait until Maytag works the kinks out of this one.
