I received this microwave as a birthday present September ‘06. I believe my mom payed about $70.00 at Fred Meyer (a local chain) for it.

It was a good microwave for the 7 months that it worked.

Last week I was heating hot water in it when it just turned off. I unplugged it and to no avail, the thing would not turn on. I checked the outlet, tried to see if the child lock was on. Nothing worked.

It has been very difficult to get in touch with Emerson regarding their 1-year warranty. Unfortunately, I would be responsible for paying for shipping both ways to their repair center which costs about $40.00. Not worth getting a refurbished microwave back that has the potential for breaking again.

As far as the microwave itself, the controls are a little strange compared to other microwaves I’ve had. The buttons sometimes stick. Also, the inner piece of cardboard within the microwave slipped off when my boyfriend was cleaning it out.

When this microwave worked it heated things extremely well. I never had an issue with uneven heating or burning. It was a pretty good microwave. I only used it a couple times a week. Too bad it wasn’t built to last.
