Bought this on a recommendation from a bro in law as a cheaper version of a Bosch.

On a scale of 1-10 I would give it an 8 3/4 - 9.

It is very quiet. It has a 2 motor design that allows top rack washing only - more efficient than most. It has convection drying - keeps all the moisture inside the stainless tub.

The only reason I would not give it a 10 was it was a bit harder to install than US brands as the rear level legs are non accessible from the front - necessitating one to slip the unit out from under the counter a few times to get it level - not a biggie. On the other hand the fill and drain are all at the back - makes it easy to check for leaks out from under the counter completely - while running.

The unit is fully enclosed with painted metal sides and back covering the insulation. If someone put a butcher block top on it, it could be a free standing unit - with proper precautions, of course - to make sure it did not tip over with the door open.

The top rack - initially was a disappointment as there no real vertical tines to hold stuff secure as the older Whirlpool I replaced had. It was just getting used to the way it loads, and now it is fine - if not actually better. The plastic parts inside may be suspect in a couple of areas. The tube that brings water to the middle spray arm (under the top rack) came apart a couple of times due to it sticking a bit at the back rubber inlet seal. It is easily replaceable, and I will eventually do so - but for now I just attached a black plastic tie to secure it better, and it is fine. (I may not even worry about replacing it) :).

Overall a quiet unit, well made & efficient. I bought mine from Buy.com and it came on time and undamaged (due to excellent packaging by Haier).

A great option at a lot less money than a Bosch.

As someone who has been writing about consumer electronics for quite a few years, I am usually quite forgiving about products and their designs. Sometimes you try a product and it just happens to be a “lemon”, and it is not representative of the product itself!

Unfortunately we have had a terrible time with this dishwasher. After doing quite a bit of research online and at major appliance stores, we landed on this Bosch as the best combination of features (size, running noise-minimal, stainless steel interior), looks and price. We purchased it at Sears. With 2 kids and a 20 year old broken dishwasher, the 2 week wait for the installation seemed like a lifetime! The beautiful Bosch arrived and was promptly installed. We celebrated and rejoiced as we were finally getting relief from our dishpan hands. Our rejoice vanished after just 6 days when the beautiful Bosch decided to stop draining and thereby stopped getting our dishes clean. A quick call to Sears and a discussion with the sales person ensued. He claimed this was the first time anything like this had ever happened with this model of dishwasher and would promptly have a new one sent out at no cost to us. Additionally there was a further sale going on at Sears and we would receive an additional $100 off the dishwasher. Feeling like it was worth it to try our luck again, we agreed and waited the week and half to get the new dishwasher. It arrived and worked swimmingly for 4 months. Unfortunately the exact same issue struck our new Bosch last night–no draining leaving us with a dirty pool of water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I’m uncertain if it is the way the dishwashers were installed or the brand but we will never buy a Bosch again and probably not purchase any dishwasher from Sears in order to eliminate both potential issues.

Our overall experience with this unit has been very pleasant. It was my first dishwasher installation, so all things considered, it went fairly well. The main reason we decided on this product, as shallow as it seems, was because we have a large family and the 3rd rack was very appealing for those “extras” that usually need to be hand-washed.

Because our dishwasher was broken, we decided to purchase the floor display model (others were sold out for weeks) at a discount, but also purchased the full-service extended warranty because of this. No major problems yet - just a small problem with the LED not fully displaying.

We purchased this new dishwasher after our Bosch somehow fried its electronics one day and the repairman told us that a replacement control panel would cost almost 2/3rds of a new machine. Until then, I quite liked the Bosch but I certainly shied away when it came time to look for a replacement.

Most of the machines in this price range offer high performance. What made us decide on this machine was the reputation of the manufacturer, the longer warranty, the quietness, and the low energy/water consumption.

Added bonuses are the clean, uncluttered face and the main power button that is hidden from the children.

The ASKO dealer in the region was offering no discounts at the time and was selling every single one that came in immediately. I was told I could get a package discount if I purchased multiple appliances but we didn’t need any others.

I looked around and did not find a better price. In fact, I had wanted to purchase the cheapest ASKO model but the dealer was sold out for 2 months. He gave me the option of waiting, or paying $100 more for the Turbo Drying model. Hand washing and drying our families’ dishes was becoming a little tiresome so we opted to spend the extra $100.

I have absolutely no qualms about the cleaning ability of this machine. In fact, it works so well that we often run loads in the “glasses/light” mode to save energy and the dishes are spotless.

I only wish it had the cutlery rack on top like the Miele models. Narrow items like plastic straws for the kids fall through the regular cutlery basket.

One last caveat, the drying cycle with the Turbo Drying on takes quite long.

UPDATE: This product has remained the same, but I have found if I use Cascade Complete dishwashing powder AND a rinse aid, it does work a little better than it did at the time of the earlier review, but I went through a lot of different products before I noticed any difference. The pegs that hold the dishes have now started rusting and and are starting to come off. I still don’t recommend it. We will be getting a new dishwasher (NOT A MAYTAG) when we remodel our kitchen next year. By that time, it will be a whopping 3-1/2 years old.

As part of a home renovation project, my husband and I decided to go with matching appliances in our kitchen. He really liked the look of stainless steel. I really didn’t care seeing as how for the past two years, I have been living in an unfinished house, doing dishes by hand! So after not a lot of research, (did I mention it had been two years?! I was desperate!) we decided to go with the Frigidaire stainless steel appliances by Electrolux. We bought the glasstop stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. I love everything except the dishwasher. It’s horrible, really. I wash my dishes in hot soapy water before loading them into the dishwasher and they can come out looking worse than they went in! After reading others reviews on the subject, I can see that they also have similar problems. The top rack hardly ever gets clean, the dishes up there usually have a gritty caked on layer that I have to scrub to get off. I worry every time I make mashed potatoes because it seems like if I don’t get every little bit off of the dishes before loading them, than I am guaranteed to have dirty dishes in the end. The inside of the dishwasher is often covered in a dirty, greasy film with a layer of filth where the door meets the washer on the inside. And this is after the dishwasher has run! So you know that if the dishwasher itself is dirty after a cycle, than the dishes have to be too! It is also not very quiet. My grandmother’s 20 year old dishwasher makes less noise. I called Electrolux and the lady suggested I take everything apart and clean it. I have two small children who love to help mommy and this becomes a real chore! I have to clean it about once a month on average and even then, I am not guaranteed a satisfyingly clean set of dishes. Another problem I have is that the bottom rack doesn’t slide in and out very easily. It always seems to get jammed up and I have to put it back in place. I am just very unhappy with this dishwasher. As thoroughly as I clean my dirty dishes before loading them, I should just put them into the cabinets, but by golly, I paid for this dishwasher and I am going to use it, even if just to sterilize! I would not recommend this piece of junk to anyone.

My old Whirlpool died after 13 years. Although hesitant based on some of the comments found here, I decided to go with recommendation of Consumer Search and my love of Whirlpool products so purchased this model July 2007. Have not experienced any of the complaints found at Epinions.

My kitchen, breakfast room and family room is one gigantic area with no walls between. I can actually watch TV without having to turn up the volume which was always a problem with my older Whirlpool.

The dishes are spotless but I have to admit, I have always used water when clearing the plates of left-overs. However, they are definitely not pre-washed before they are put in the dishwasher.

The capacity is wonderful and handles extremely large loads quite well. The silverware basket design has not been a problem for us. Easy to remove the basket, empty silverware, and reattach to the unit.

As far as water sitting on top of glasses, the only time I’ve had a problem is with one set of my glasses and that is due to the poor design of the glasses. Any glassware or cups that have a flat bottom do not have water sitting on top of them. Of course, I load the dishes where they are slanting on the top rack.

I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a new dishwasher. Once again, Consumer Search is right on track with their recommendation.

Researched the hell out of many dishwashers using Consumer Reports, Epinions, etc. We bought the Bosch from Sears because of many good reviews and JD Power awards for quietness and reliability. The washer IS very quiet which we love.

The washer stopped working on 10/23/07 and I was dismayed to learn that Sears cannot send out repair techs to take a look at it. So beware of the Sears Master Protection Plan. We bought the 3yr coverage. When I called Sears, I was told the soonest someone could come to look at the washer was 1.5 weeks from that day (11/4/07). Totally unacceptable.

GE’s latest line of dishwashers are listed as PDW models. They have a full length CONTOURED door, tall tub, NYLON coated racks with NO center tower cutout, and the tines are ball tipped for maximum life. I bought the PDW7300. It has all the features that were lacking in the previous Triton series. Both upper and lower racks hold tall items easily, and now I can put a dutch oven pan in the lower rack without having to work around the center tower cutout. The racks are nylon coated, which is very important, because you want your machine to look as good 5 years from now as the day you bought it. PVC coated racks will not last as long, and show wear and rust.
