Washers Dryers

All asian countries have washer and dryer combined into a single unit. Most are typically top loading. However, washing and drying are separate functions in USA.
Why are there no combined washer-dryers in USA, like in Asia?Bigger houses with more room. Also a washer or dryer is cheaper than a combination so if one breaks it's less expensive to replace just a washer or dryer than it would be to replace a combination of the two.

What is the best brand of washer and dryer I can purchase for under 500 dollars a piece?As all of the responders have said, Whirlpool is the brand to get. Since Whirlpool has purchased Maytag they are all Whirlpools now.

I need replacements and want to buy American. Sales people have told me conflicting stories.go with whirlpool, they are the maker of; kenmore, roper, and kitchen aid, and now they own maytag and the brands that they manufacture. our stove and over the stove microwave are both whirlpool, and so are our laundry machines. i bought the laundry products because of how long they lasted my sister and her five kids, from the first born til the youngest was a teenager. that's a lot of laundry! and the kitchen products because the parts are available everywhere and standard. whirlpool is a smart company when it comes to the replacement parts side too, like selling a kit with all the parts to fix a particular problem. i just rebuilt the dryer for $30.00 with one of these kits, because it squeaked when it ran. the kit had great directions with pictures so that a homeowner could do the repair with basic tools. well, that's my advice, hope it helps you decide, good luck. p.s., i wouldn't own a g.e.

My wife and I are looking into buying a new washer and dryer and I really like the looks, reviews that I have seen for the new Whirlpool Cabrio washers and dryers. Does anyone have them and how would you rate them? Also, I know it has been asked but what other washer and dryers would you suggest?The next time Sears has a sale, I would get the Kenmores.

We just had to do this recently and we researched a lot.

For the value and workload, we went with the Kenmore HE3 4587 washer (Front Loader) and The Elite 6697 dryer.

We have a GE top load washer and dryer - both are dying. The timer is going out for the second time on the washer and the dryer door won't stay shut. I think I want front loaders this time. I like the efficiency and the fact that they stack. However, I've been researching them online. Now I'm confused by all the information I've read. They all seem to be pieces of junk that break within a year! Does anyone have front loaders? What kind do you have and do you have issues with them? Who thought buying a washer and dryer could make you nuts?most of the answers are good, Front loads are expensive, and any repairs are very expensive. I have a front load washer and am pleased with it's function so far they have a life of about 11 years and the dryers slightly longer. When I replace mine it will be with a top load Fisher Packyl. This is an expensive choice but the repairs are very simple and far less expensive than the front load. The Washer has no transmission and very few moving parts. They are comparable to the front loads in water consumption and efficiency. The Dryer is even a top load, Take a look I think you will be most pleased. The new units even interact with each other, the washer will communicate drying information to the dryer. The Whirlpool Casio is made by these people as is the top of the line Kenmore. Fisher Packyl has got it together.
