We bought this refrigerator last August when we were moving into our house. It was more expensive than freezer-top models but I thought that the convenience of having the fridge at eye-level was worth the extra money.

I love how roomy the fridge is. The door shelves can be moved around so you can customize them to fit your needs. Having it up top makes it much easier to see everything inside–no moldy mystery surprises to find. It’s also so easy to clean since you don’t have to get down on your hands and knees to see what you’re doing.

It has a built-in surge protector to protect itself which I was not aware of. We had some kind of electrical event and the whole thing turned off. I had to wait 3 days for a repairman to come (thank God for our downstairs freezer) and he said all you had to do was unplug it and plug it back in to reset the chip. I wish the Maytag service people could have told me that on the phone (I even asked if I should try that) but the service man said that it was such a new product, at that time anyway, that they wouldn’t have known that.

As for the downside to this product, the freezer basket is not particularly convenient. Things tend to be stacked on top of one another so it’s difficult to find what you’re looking for unless it is right on top.

All in all, this fridge/freezer is incredible. I’m so happy that we bought it.
