We purchased this oven about 2 months ago. About two weeks after first use I glanced underneath and saw that the glass cover on the light was cracked in many pieces. We were fairly sure we hadn’t done the damage during installation of the oven, but we gave the product the benefit of the doubt.

We ordered a replacement piece of glass and installed it. Again, about two weeks later I actually heard it break/shatter this time, while the light was on (as if from excessive heat?). I’d be curious to hear if anyone else has experienced this. Also, it seems strange that the light bulb in the fixture is very dim (much dimmer than my last oven), and there appears to be openings for two actual lights in the little space yet there is only one fixture installed (for the dim bulb).

Also, the unit emits a high-pitched whine when you open the door during use. It takes anywhere from a few seconds to 10 seconds to stop whining. It worries me that there is some type of electrical problem? It does seem to heat properly though, so I’m not sure.

I’ve begun to wonder if we gotten a lemon of an oven. Now that the glass has broken for a second time I am planning to call Maytag and complain. Hopefully they will have some good answers for us.
