After my 18-month old top-of-the-line Whirlpool became contaminated with a mold-like infestation, I was ready for a great dishwasher.

Purchased this model through Home Depot as it was about the best one they had and promoted it heavily.

Within days of installation, I was struggling with how to keep it loaded so the dishes and glasses wouldn’t fall over each other every time a rack was moved. The tines on the bottom shelf don’t even line up with each other!

The poor rack design and fact that it doesn’t heat the water resulted in dirty, sometimes even greasy dishes. I always put a minimum of 25% of each load back in to try again.

The Quick Wash cycle left my dishes dirty and soaking wet. The Normal Wash did slightly better, but still left them semi-wet and ran for over 2 hours and 15 minutes.

I had my first service call within the first month trying to determine why it was louder than expected and the dishes looked so bad.

That was on a Friday. On Monday, one of the wheels that the top rack slides on broke off. Called for service a second time. When the next wheel broke off (days later) and became lodged in the grinder unit, the noise was unbearable.

Calls to LG’s customer service line were excruciating. Long, long hold times which end with a message to leave your number and they’ll call you back. Takes about three days to receive a call-back.

When I complained to the store, they told me I had to take it up with LG.

LG finally agreed to replace my two-month old dishwasher with the same model, but there was no way I’d have another LG product.

Convinced the store to give me a full refund (to his credit, the Home Depot store manager agreed, even though all the appliance dept. people told me they never accept machines back after 30 days) and bought my third dishwasher in two years.

I bought a Miele and after only three loads, I’m thrilled, and finally have clean dishes!
