A lot of the companies now days have a break room for their employees to eat in and in those rooms they provide microwave ovens for the employees to warm their food.

Where I work, we are no different. In fact we have two microwave ovens that are used on a daily basis by quite a few employees.

We have the old Sharp that has been performing for well over the two years I have been there and now we have the new GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series.

This is a sleek modern white microwave that looks great in the break room or in any kitchen.

The outside measurements are 13 �� wide by 8 �� inches high by 14 7/8� deep.

The interior measures 13 �� wide by 8 �� high by 14 ��. Plenty of room inside to hold a dinner plate, a bowl with soup or even to cook a chicken or small roast if you desire.

The GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series has 1100 watts of power so the cooking time for a lot of your foods is considerably less than a lot of your standard recipes, you have to be the judge of the amount of time you place your items in there for.

I know it takes me about 1 minute and 40 seconds to heat a Glad three cup container with chili. It is just the right temperature to eat.

What the GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series come with:

Electronic Touch Controls, Scrolling Display for help, digital display with a clock, sensor controls for popcorn, beverages and for reheat, these are all instant on. You just hit the number 1 all the way up to 6 and you get that many minutes instantly.

If you want to add thirty seconds then that is also instant on. You don�t have to hit start.

On the right side of the GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series is the touch pad it goes from 9-0. On top of the numbers there is a button that reads time cook/power level. If you forget the level you are cooking on you can press the time cook/power level button.

The Time cook button also lets you cook for up to 59 minutes and 99 seconds.

There are ten power levels that go from high 100% power to defrost. Now that is the main feature of this that I do really like. You don�t have to cook everything on high and it become rubbery.

The GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series has a humidity sensor. This allows the oven to adjust the time for different food types.

The GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series comes with a glass turntable that measures about 13 ��. This is washable either in the dishwasher or by hand if you should spill something on it or blow it up in the microwave.

A few other features that are nice: a kitchen timer for those that do not have a regular timer for cooking. This is also a way not to have extras in the kitchen to clutter the area.

The GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series gives you an audible beep when cooking has finished and it has a child lock.

The door on the GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series is see through so while cooking you can watch the food. There is a light inside the microwave that comes on when the door is opened or when the microwave is turned on.

There are several things about this microwave that I do not like.

One being the instant on, that makes it hard when you want to cook something for one minute and thirty seconds. You hit the one minute key and it starts cooking so you have to hit the two minute key and stand there and watch the food. You just press the time cook button twice and enter the amount of time you want.

I knew there had to be an easier way of doing this but our company didn�t give us the book to read; I think they intentionally did this to see just how many geniuses they don�t have working for them.

Or if you loose the book that comes with the microwave you can go online and copy it like I did for the rest of the troops to be able to use it correctly.

Cleaning of the GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series is easy, all you have to do is wipe the outside with a damp cloth and polish with a dry rag.

Inside is the same way, as stated above the turntable comes out for easy cleaning and you wipe the inside. Do not use the oven without the turntable in place.

There is a slight flaw. The door will seemed fully shut and you try to start the microwave it won�t come one. Just press on the door until you hear it latch. It doesn�t take much pressure. This is a safety feature for those of us who are in too big of a hurry to check out what is going on.

Also you will notice that at times steam will escape from inside of the oven, they say that is normal.

If something happens to boil over you can heat water inside and leave it for a few minutes for the humidity to get high and wipe down.

Depending on what you cook you might want to deodorize the microwave you can add a couple of drops of vanilla to the water and that makes the whole room smell nice.

There is a one year warranty for all parts and labor. This starts from the day you purchase the oven.

There is a ten year warranty on the magnetron tube.

All warranty is done on a carry in basis to your local service center. Those are easily located in the phone book or by calling GE at 1-800-GECARES.

All in all I think the GE Profile 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven JE1160 Series is a good economy microwave for a family.

If this one last half as long as the GE I had for 18 years then the company has made a wise investment.

If my present Sharp Microwave goes out I would consider purchasing this one as I have used it on a daily basis since it has been placed in the break room.

It has been going in our office on a daily basis with 15 or more people using it.
