We bought our refrigerator from the Maytag Store in May 2006 and it has been a good choice with only a few minor problems since then.

We bought this fridge because we liked the idea of having the freezer on the bottom, and more space on top for fresh food.

We love all of the space inside, we can put a lot more food in this fridge than in our previous fridge - which now lives in our garage. We also love it that you can see everything in it - no more lost food that you forgot you bought and went bad because you could not see it. We use the deli tray drawer for things like cheese, cheese sticks, lunch meets and “flat” things.

The freezer is great, there are little drawer slide things on each side so when you fill it and you open the big drawer, the little drawers slide and you can see everything in the freezer on two levels.

The control panel is nice, you can lock out the ice and water for those toddlers that might be in the house. You can also turn on the door alarm, temperature alarm, and there is a filter “order now” light, and change light. There is also a “max cool” button to rapidly cool the fridge after leaving the doors open when you stock the fridge. There is also a vacation mode.

One thing we don’t like … The deli door has a “lid” that lifts up and one side pops off sometimes, you can pop it back on so it’s not a big deal - it’s not broken, just the peg should be longer.

The bad thing about the control panel that Maytag does not tell you - a power surge will knock it out. This is what the other reviewer was describing - it also happened to us last night. Luckily we have the extended warranty, and the Maytag Store has great service. So, I would recommend the extended warranty! One minute everything was fine, the next the control panel was flashing and the ice maker kept opening and closing over and over nonstop. The repair man did say that if it ever happens again, you can unscrew the top left corner of the left door and disconnect the wiring to the control panel and the fridge will still run, just the control panel will then stay off until the repair man gets there. Anyway, we just moved our food to the garage fridge until today when it was repaired. But, who knows how often a power surge could happen? So, any fridge with a circuit board probably either needs a surge protector or an extended warranty or both. It took 5 minutes to fix once the repair man got to our house, and he knew exactly what to bring. Oh, our extended warranty paid 100% so it’s a good deal.
