Having little room and only a few nice bottles of wine worth storing, I went looking for a small built in version that would not cost a lot of money. This model seemed to be it.
Unfortunately when I first plugged it in, it sounded like it was rattling apart. The vibration noise was extremely loud.
After some fiddling I found that the compressor was not properly mounted. Whomever assembled this unit put in only three bolts and didn’t put in those three properly. After a quick trip to the hardware store I was able to mount the compressor properly. I also tightened down several other loose screws I could reach. Although not quiet the noise is now what one would expect from this level refrigerator I guess. Not able to hear other wine coolers in action I can’t give reference. It is still noisier than our large KitchenAid household refrigerator.
I wonder what else they forgot to do.
The temperature control is not very good. The temperature range is plus and minus 7 degrees Fahrenheit from the set point. Out of curiosity, I checked our small ULine guesthouse refrigerator and KitchenAid refrigerator and they are only plus and minus 2 degrees if the door stays closed.
The lock will keep out two year olds but probably will not deter a thief. If you push hard on the exposed locking lever you can force it open without the key.
I guess this is better than storing my wine under the bed.
