We needed a dishwasher, so I decided to buy this Whirlpool b/c of comments here and Consumer Reports ratings. I went to Sears to buy one, they were out of stock, so I bought a high end Bosch in the clearance section that was on crazy sale (I have always wanted a Bosch). Well, after a very easy installation of the Bosch, we found out why it was on clearance–it didn’t work. So I went to Lowes and bought this Whirlpool (always go to Lowes–they have it in stock!).

After having installed a Bosch the night before, we noticed that the Whirlpool was very cheaply constructed with a lot of plastic parts all over the place–not nearly as elegantly designed as the Bosch. I was nervous. Especially when it was nearly impossible to get into place due to very poofy insulation. Then the odessy of trying to get the water supply attached–you will need a small adjustable crescent wrench (which we misplaced some time ago) and small hands (we are both very tall, big-handed people). This is not as easy to install as a Bosch, let me put it that way!

We got it in properly (finally) and I set to work trying this thing out. I am pleased to say that it works very well–it even gets off the shortening from spoons my old dishwasher did not! It is quite loud–noisier than our 10 year old Jenn-Aire, but we expected that from the very fluffy insulation (denser insulation would make it much quieter).

So, I am pleasantly surprised tha this dishwasher washes so nicely! I would have no qualms recommending this to anyone else–though you might spring for the next model up–it woul dmost likely be not so loud.
