The Sanyo SR-4912M may be out of production, but there are still some to be found, brand new. I got mine recently at Fry’s.com for $199.99, plus about $25 in shipping to the Rocky Mtn area, and no sales tax, as Fry’s has no business presence in the Rockies. So it was a good value, and the shipping was fair, too.

I converted it to a hombrew kegerator for use with two soda kegs (3 or 5 gal. each) and a CO2 tank placed inside without any modifications. Everything fits perfectly. I’ve heard it will fit one commercial Pony Keg (7.5 gal.), too, if you prop the keg up. I’m using pony taps right now, so I have to open the door to draw beer right now. But in the next few days I’ll have the shank and drip pan to place a faucet through the door effectively. I prefer it that way, compared to putting a faucet tower on top, which would take away the counter top space that I chose to use for other things. Plus, I can draw through the door easily enough because I’m usually seated close by at that same level.

I think this same unit is relabeled under another brand or two, but those units have a white colored interior, and I prefer the black interior or the Sanyo.

The main selling points of the Sanyo, for me, (besides the particular size for a kegerator, and that it’s an all-refrigerator) were that it is attractive, quiet, and it will get beer as cold as possible, and will even freeze it, so don’t set it to the coldest setting.

In a word, this frige is brilliant, if what you want is a smaller size without the freezer.
