I have a full sized carpet cleaner but I can’t use it in tight spaces, stairs and I hate to take it out for small spots so I purchased the Bissell 1425. I had a few spots on high traffic areas and in my daughter’s bedroom which consisted of coffee, lipstick, children’s blue cream eyeshadow and some kind of grease. I used the solution that came with the Bissell but I also pre-treated the spots with “Spot Shot” first. After shampooing the carpet, I spilled hot water on the carpet and used the suction to extract the water. It seemed to clean the spots better and I thought it better to rinse the area so as not to leave a residue. All of the spots came out and my carpet looks like new again. I recommend the Proheat because it heats the water and I believe it gives better results. I thought it was very easy to clean the machine once I was ready to store it. I put clean, plain water into the clean water tank and then squirt it into the sink using the spray nozzle to clean the nozzle and to avoid clogging it (not that I had a problem but I read the other reviews and thought that it might help).
